The game will take place on Sunday, 3rd of May 2015 at 12:15 pm UK time. Weather forecast promises decent 10 °C, light rain and humidity at 100.00 %. With this sort of forecast we can expect a lot of mud on the pitch and a game low on technical skills. This is the very last game of League One campaign and Crewe Alexandra needs to secure at least one point in order to save their skin for the next season. One point only is enough as Crawley Town and Coventry City are playing at the same time and in this game Crawley needs to win while Coventry must not lose – talk about a fierce game, huh?
Back to our game, the Bantams (a nickname for Bradford) are a solid team that managed to eliminate Millwall, Sunderland and also – famously – Chelsea this season. However, the team was unfortunately eliminated in two games’ battle in Reading. Bradford was not able to reach promotion this year, but the team still fares a lot better than in the 2012/2013 season – playing 4th tier.
Crewe conceded too many goals this season, being only 3 goals above the worst conceding teams. The team did not impress overall and this final game is expected to save them, but they need to be careful.
Anyway, bookies put odds in Crewe’s favour (about 2) but that is definitely not a competing edge against the likes of Bradford, especially as the team has one of the worst defenses of the league and the game will most likely be played in the rain.
My tip is to back a draw at 3.5 odds. The home team must NOT lose, so there is no reason to risk a loss at home in a rainy match which could turn into a nightmare. Bradford is playing very well away from home, but realistically they don’t need to win – they just need to wrap up a good season nicely and fight for promotion next year.
